Kona International Airport is located approximately seven miles northwest of Kailua Kona. Because Hawaii is a popular tourist destination, thousands of visitors pass through the terminal hall yearly. Currently, several international and domestic airline carriers serve the airport, and guests can enjoy non-stop service to various locations. Hawaiian carriers include Aloha Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Island Air. Twelve additional airlines serve the airport. These include major U.S carriers such as Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and American Airlines.

Kona International Airport consist of two terminals (North and South), which feature identical services and amenities. Guests can take advantage of comfortable lounges, which provide a place to relax in-between flights. In addition, the airport offers a nice selection of restaurants and retail shops. Airport personnel are extremely helpful and available to assist guests with flight information, gates, ground transportation, and more. Plus, helpful information monitors are located throughout the terminal, which provide up-to-date flight status. Wireless Internet access is available in the terminal, and designated smoking areas are located outside the terminal hall.
